A local referral, not a platform
LOZ Electrical exists because getting a good electrician to call you back at this lake is harder than it should be — and because the national "solution" sells your phone number to five strangers. We do the opposite.
The short version
We're a free, local matching service. You call or text one number; we connect your job with one independent, licensed Lake of the Ozarks electrician who fits it; the contractor does the work and you deal with them directly. We are not an electrical contractor, we don't perform electrical work, and we never pretend otherwise — the licensed pros do the wiring, and we do the thing we're actually good at: knowing who's good, who answers, and who has room on the schedule this week.
Four generations at this lake
This service is run by a Lake family, not a marketing company. Our grandparents founded Lake Ozark Water and Sewer and spent decades keeping utilities running for the same coves we serve now; our father ran that company after them and today builds custom homes at the lake; the rest of the family sells real estate here and raises kids here. Our home base is Linn Creek — the town that literally moved uphill when Bagnell Dam filled the valley in 1931. The point of the family résumé is simple: around here, contractors are known quantities. Decades of utility work, homebuilding, and closings mean we know which electricians finish what they start, which ones return calls in February as fast as June, and which ones we'd send to our own mother's dock. That knowledge is the product.
How we vet the electricians we refer
Every contractor we match has to clear the same bar, and it doesn't bend:
- Licensed and insured — current Missouri electrical contractor licensing and insurance, verified before the first referral, re-verified on renewal.
- The right specialty — dock work goes to electricians who do dock work constantly (LOZAEC dock certification is exactly the kind of credential we look for), generator work to installers who service what they sell, real-estate deadlines to pros who staff for them.
- Responsiveness — the number-one complaint about Lake contractors is silence. We track whether our referrals get answered and how fast, and contractors who go quiet stop getting matches. Simple as that.
- Straight quotes — permits included in scope, ranges explained, no mystery line items. Anyone we'd hesitate to have quote our own family doesn't make the bench.
Why the anti-platform matters
National lead sites auction your project: your information goes to multiple contractors who each paid for it, your phone lights up, and the contractors — who often spend four figures acquiring a single job — price that overhead into your quote. Regulators have had plenty to say about that industry's practices. Our model is the old-fashioned one with a website attached: one good match, made free, by neighbors with skin in this community's game. The electricians like it because the lead is exclusive and costs them nothing while we prove this out; you like it because your phone stays quiet and your job gets done.
The fine print, in plain sight
LOZ Electrical is a free local referral service. Electrical work is performed by independent, licensed electrical contractors. LOZ Electrical does not perform electrical work. We may be compensated by contractors for referrals or advertising as this service grows; that will never change the vetting bar above, and it never costs homeowners anything. Cost figures on this site are shown as ranges and calibrated with the licensed electricians who do the work — where a number isn't confirmed yet, we say so instead of guessing. Permit and code details vary by jurisdiction and change over time; verify with your building authority before work begins.
